Ban On 101 Defence Items Imports In Push For Self-Reliance: Rajnath Singh

The defence ministry will cease the import of 101 objects “past given timeline” to spice up indigenous manufacturing in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), Union minister Rajnath Singh mentioned right now.

Virtually 260 schemes of such objects have been contracted by the tri-services at an approximate price of Rs 3.5 lakh crore between April 2015 and August 2020, the minister mentioned.

It’s estimated that contracts price nearly Rs four lakh crore can be positioned upon the home business throughout the subsequent 6 to 7 years.

The record has been ready by the defence ministry after a number of rounds of consultations with all stakeholders, together with  the Armed Forces, private and non-private business.
