Centre Relaxes Export Norms For Face Shields, Surgical Masks, Medical Goggles

The federal government on Tuesday relaxed norms for the export of face shields, sure type of surgical masks and medical goggles that are in demand as a result of coronavirus pandemic.

The federal government has made export of face shields free and permitted outward shipments of two/three ply surgical masks and medical goggles with sure circumstances.

Earlier export of two/three Ply surgical masks, medical goggles and face shields had been banned within the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

The export of those masks and goggles is moved from banned class to restricted one, below which an exporter has to hunt a permission or licence from the Directorate Normal of International Commerce (DGFT).

A notification is “amended to the extent that the export coverage of two/three Ply surgical masks, medical goggles is amended from prohibited to restricted class and export of face shields has been made free,” the DGFT stated in a notification.

It stated {that a} month-to-month export quota of 4 crore items has been fastened for two/three Ply surgical masks, and 20 lakh items per 30 days for medical goggles for issuing licenses to eligible candidates as per the standards to be individually issued.

These merchandise are in enormous demand on account of COVID-19 pandemic.
