Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh:
A case has been registered towards Madhya Pradesh Congress MLA Shashank Bhargava for allegedly making a derogatory comment towards a lady Union Minister throughout a protest over the gas value hike, police stated on Friday.
Mr Bhargava made the comment throughout a cycle rally held in Vidisha on Thursday, the police stated.
The controversial assertion angered the leaders of the ruling BJP within the state, with Vidisha civic physique chairman staging a protest towards Shashank Bhargava and accusing him of getting an “anti-women” mentality.
The BJP lodged a police grievance towards Mr Bhargava, who represents the Vidisha Meeting seat.
“An FIR has been registered towards Shashank Bhargava underneath related sections of the Indian Penal Code for disobedience to order issued by public servant and sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment,” Kotwali police station in-charge Virendra Jha stated.
In the meantime, Nationwide Fee for Ladies (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma stated a reply can be sought from the legislator for this comment.
Reacting to the remark, senior BJP chief and former Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday tweeted, “Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devta (Gods reside there the place girls are worshipped). However the best way our Congress leaders are commenting towards girls is very condemnable.”
